Patch Management On Windows systems
lets say, that you have to patching, a new big chaos environment of windows servers. Others servers are in domain, others are stand alone. Mine opinion about the best practice is:
1. Install MSUS server. This is a good management tool for patching with good reporting and very easy installation. At the end of installation, you will have a web interface for management and a URL that "clients" must look, to check if there is any update. MSUS, in other words, is a internal "windows update".
2. Login local, check free space and make a manual "windows update" (select express). This, will patch all the critical patching in the system. (MSUS is boring if you have to do mass patching with many patch packets and you have to know the special needs of curent system)
3. Make the server, client for the MSUS server:

4. In the inventory of MSUS, separate critical servers, PCs, "default" servers and server that can be used as test environment and start to use,for now on, the MSUS for patch management.
